Conference on mental health, dementia and the natural environment.
The National Outdoors for All Working Group chaired by Natural England is hosting a national conference, organised by The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) to bring the health and social care sectors together with the natural environment sector, to look at practical ways of increasing provision and commissioning of natural solutions as a mainstream activity in helping to tackle mental health and dementia.
There is a huge and growing burden of mental ill health in the UK with at least 1 in 4 individuals affected in any one year and the overall economic and social costs of mental ill health in England estimated at around £105 billion per annum, including £21.3 billion in direct health and social care costs. Dementia directly affects around 800,000 people and a further 670,000 carers and numbers are estimated to double in the next 30 years. All details can be found here.
